Changing your job title inside the same company still requires the Work Permit to be amended. The permit names a position, not just an employer — and the officer checks that the title, your qualifications and the salary make sense together.
What is included
- Review of the new position against the permit conditions
- Preparation of the amendment request
- Filing with the Department of Employment and follow-up
- Confirmation that your visa record remains consistent
Documents usually required
- Passport and current Work Permit
- Letter from the employer confirming the new position and duties
- Updated job description on company letterhead
- Employment contract or addendum reflecting the new role
- Photographs if a new book is issued
How the process runs
- We check whether the new title requires extra evidence, such as a licence or a specific degree
- Your employer issues the confirming letter and job description
- We file the amendment and follow it up
- The permit is updated, and we confirm the change is reflected everywhere
Timing
Usually one to two weeks. If the new position changes the minimum salary threshold, we tell you before filing rather than after.
Worth knowing
A permit issued for one position does not cover work in another, even in the same office. Directors and owners are not exempt — working in a role the permit does not name is the same as working without one.
