Your Work Permit is issued to a named employer. When you move to a new company, the permit must move with you — this is not automatic, and the order of steps matters.
What is included
- Review of your current permit and the new employment
- Notification to the Department of Employment on behalf of the outgoing employer
- Preparation and filing of the new application in the new employer's name
- Follow-up until the new permit is issued
Documents usually required
- Passport, current visa and existing Work Permit
- Photographs and a current medical certificate
- Educational certificates and CV
- From the new employer: company affidavit, registration documents, VAT certificate, job description and employment contract
How the process runs
- Your current employer notifies the Department of Employment that you are leaving
- The existing permit is returned or cancelled
- Your new employer prepares its supporting documents
- A new application is submitted and the permit is issued in the new company's name
- We check that your visa and 90-day reporting remain aligned
Timing
One to three weeks once both employers' paperwork is ready. The slow part is usually waiting for the release from a former employer, so we start that request immediately.
Worth knowing
Do not begin work with the new employer before the permit is changed. Even a few days in the gap is treated as working without a permit, and the fines apply to you and to the new employer.
